Forecasts

Before the tournament began, twenty people were brave enough to make some forecasts. With the benefit of hindsight, we can now see how good (or bad) some of those were...

Semi Finalists:
Eighteen people tipped France to reach the Semi Finals, and fifteen people tipped Germany.
Twelve people tipped Spain, and ten tipped England.
Portugal received eight votes, Italy seven and Croatia four. Just two people tipped the Netherlands to reach the Semi Finals: well done Tino and Craig.

Six people tipped 3 of the 4 semi-finalists: André, Christian, Joris and Markus omitted the Netherlands, while Craig neglected Spain, and Tino dismissed England.

Winner:
Eleven people tipped France to win Euro 2024.
Three people tipped Italy.
Two people tipped Portugal and two tipped Spain.
Germany and Austria received one vote each.
Nobody tipped England or the Netherlands.

Preferred Victor:
Twelve different countries were voted for.
Croatia received the most love, with four people choosing them.
Belgium was selected by three people.
Two votes each went to Scotland, England and Germany.
Nobody voted for the Netherlands or Spain.

Surprise Package:
Nine countries were tipped to be surprisingly successful.
Eight people tipped Austria to be the tournament's surprise package. Three people tipped Albania, and two tipped Switzerland.

Crash and Burn:
There was no clear winner here this year.
Four people wanted to see Italy fail badly, and were presumably quite happy with how that went.
Four other people wanted Portugal to flop. Ronaldo cried twice, so that probably counts.
Four people are disappointed to see the Netherlands reach the Semi Finals.
Four people voted for France, who - like England - have failed to perform but have somehow reached the Semi Finals. Spain got 2 votes, and England only received 1 vote this time. The other vote went to Turkey.

Golden Boot
Kylian Mbappé was the most popular player here with eight votes.
Harry Kane was tipped by four people. Ronaldo got two votes, as did Bellingham.

With three games to go, four players are level on 3 goals: Georges Mikautadze, Cody Gakpo, Ivan Schranz and Jamal Musiala. Schranz deserves to win, as 100% of his 4 shots were on target, and 3 went into the goal. Compare that with Cody Gakpo who has had 12 shots and missed the target with 4 of them. Even with that poor return, he's still better than Havertz (17 shots, 6 off target, and only 2 goals). But Gakpo is still in the tournament and could yet claim the Golden Boot outright.

Other potential winners of the Golden Boot are Dani Olmo, Fabian Ruiz, Donyell Malen, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, who have each scored 2 goals. All of them have at least one more match to add to their totals.
